With his velvet baritone voice, a major knowledge of music and a passion to rock the house, Wells is still New York’s # I DJ. It is no small wonder that many party people know his name.
The music maestro set it off back in the 80’s when he became the talk of the town as a regular or house DJ for some of the top night spots in New York City such as Studio 54, Barns International, Justine’s, The Red Parrot and The Crain Club. With a star-studded resume like that, A listers such as Russell Simmons, Mike Tyson and Spike Lee hired Reggie to be the master of music for their high profile events.
Through the years, Wells developed a versatility that has been sort after across the board from dance parties to projects belonging to HBO, Tri Star, Nickalodion and as an opening act for the Radio City Music Hall Rocketts! How many DJ’s do you know who opened for the Radio City Rocketts? …Well the fun and the high kicks continue as Reggie Wells and Co. take his after work parties up and down the Hudson River on steamy summer Wednesdays that turn into soulful cool nights at sea. They’re calling it the “Grown and Sexy Cruise” and the next one sets sail on Aug. 10, with DJ Reggie Wells on the ones & two’s. The After Work Yacht Parties leave from 125th Street in Harlem, Pier 1 at 7 pm.
Reggie has always been a pioneer with the talent to make his one dreams come true. In the 1970’s while studying communications at City College, he had a show on the school’s radio station. Wells always believed one day he would host his own show on New York’s 107.5 WBLS FM and as it turned out, not only did that happen but he also landed a show on New York’s 98.7 KISS FM. Millions tuned in and became his loyal fans forever.
Over the years, Wells has returned the love tenfold with free holiday, gift parties for children and over the top night time dance parties with surprise special celebrity guests and delicious gourmet food for their parents. Since the early 90’s Wells has put his entrepreneur skills to work and continues to produce successful music, dance and concert events, that boast some of the top names in R&B entertainment. His weekly yacht parties feature an attractive crowd, gift bags by Miss Jessie’s and Black Opal Cosmetics and great new and retro music.
