Not even nine overs per side could break West Indies Women’s losing streak as they slipped to a five-run defeat to Indian Women in the penultimate Twenty20 International in Guyana on Sunday.
After an extended delay at the start which forced a massive reduction in overs, India scrambled to 50 for 7 with off-spinner Haley Matthews claiming 3 for 13 and leg-spinner Afy Fletcher (2-2).
Pooja Vastrakar, 20, was the only one to reach double figures with 10 as India never found their momentum after being asked to bat.
Matthews set the tone earlier when she removed dangerous 15-year-old Shefall Verma for seven in the opening over with score on eight.
India Women went on to score 50 for 7 off their nine overs.
In reply, West Indies Women came up short at 45 for 5 off their allotted overs. India led the five-match series 4-0.
