The West Indies Women will go up against Scotland in their opening match of next month’s Qualifiers in Pakistan as they begin their quest to qualify for the 2025 Women’s Cricket World Cup.

The schedule for the round-robin tournament, which will be played in Lahore from April 9-19, was released recently by the International Cricket Council (ICC). The West Indies, together with Pakistan, Bangladesh, Ireland, Thailand, and Scotland, will compete for the final two spots in the Women’s Cricket World Cup in India, which is scheduled to be played in October and November this year,

West Indies Women will feature in a doubleheader on April 9, with Pakistan also set to take on Ireland.

The West Indies women, led by Hayley Matthews, will play Ireland in their second match on April 11. They will then play Pakistan in a pivotal match on April 14. They will take on Bangladesh on April 17 before facing off against Thailand in their final game on April 19.

ICC CEO Geoff Allardice said he expects a highly competitive tournament.

“The six teams are just one step away from the Women’s Cricket World Cup, and I am sure they would be all geared up for the competition,” Allardice said.

“On behalf of the ICC, I would like to wish all the participating teams the very best of luck and hope to see some competitive cricket in Lahore as a build-up to the World Cup in India.”
