Who is Angel D. Hendy?

Angel D. Hendy.
Angel D. Hendy is the founder and CEO of “Our Lady Of Charity For The Community, Inc.” (OLCC), a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. OLCC was founded in 2013 out of a heart to make positive change in the community. Before there was OLCC, Angel was feeding homeless people throughout the borough of Brooklyn and traveling back to her native land of Trinidad to feed God’s children abroad, providing hot nutritious meals to impoverished communities out of her own personal expense.

In 2016, she partnered with the Food Bank of New York City and has been a Food Pantry Coordinator in the NYCHA Glenwood Houses, Canarsie, ever since, feeding approximately 204,000 people through her food pantry.

She services over 300 people every Saturday morning. In addition, Angel, in partnership with Toys For Tots, has been delivering toys to children and families in impoverished communities every Christmas. She has also sponsored winter coat drives for those families in need.

On March 25, 2018, Angel was awarded an Office of The President, Borough of Brooklyn, City of New York Citation from then Borough President, Eric L. Adams, for her contributions and the positive impact she has made in our communities. Keeping with the agenda of supporting people in need, Angel has set out to partner with the NYC Department of Homeless Services and the Department of Social Services to house homeless people.

Ending 2024 with the momentous task of opening a platform for conversations about public safety and being a mother who has lost two children to gun violence, she plans to build a Memorial Garden Park for all families in commemoration of those who lost their lives to gun violence.
