West Indies suffered a 2-0 series loss after New Zealand defeated the regional team by 240 runs in the second Test last week at Seadon Park, Hamilton, New Zealand.
Resuming the penultimate day on 30 for two in pursuit of a world record 444 for victory, the Windies lost their last eight wickets for 173 runs, to be dismissed for 203 at the tea break.
New Zealand scored 373 and 291 for 8 declared. West Indies 211 and 203.
The defeat followed on the heels of the innings and 67-run loss in the opening Test in Wellington, which also ended in four days.
The West Indies has extended its unenviable streak of having not won a series on New Zealand soil in 22 years.
All-rounder Roston Chase top-scored with 64 and all-rounder Kemar Roach had an entertaining knock of 32, while Raymond Reifer resisted with 29, but none of the key batsmen stayed long enough to make the game into a contest.
West Indies suffered the misfortune when Sunil Ambris was forced to retire hurt on five with a broken arm, after being struck by a short ball from the aggressive fast bowler Neil Wagner.
Wagner claimed 3 for 42, while fellow seamer Trent Boult (2-52) and Tim Southee (2-13).
Man-of-the Match was New Zealand’s Ross Taylor who scored 104 not out- his 16th Test century.
