Seven months after Jamaican-owned Roadblock Radio, 101.1FM HD3, began broadcasting in New York and New Jersey – home to over 1.5 million Caribbean nationals – station founder and CEO Kacy ‘G City’ Rankine announced that the station has expanded its reach and can now be heard in South Florida on WMXJ, 102.7 FM HD3

“I am happy to report that our flagship Roadblock Radio can now be heard in Florida, from South Beach in Miami all the way north, up to Port St. Lucie and Jupiter, including heavily populated Caribbean communities in Fort Lauderdale, Pembroke Pines, Lauderhill, Hollywood, West Palm Beach, Boynton Beach, Pompano, Beach, Key Largo, Boca Raton, Miami Gardens, Tamarac, Sunrise, Deerfield Beach, Delray Beach and Palm Beach Gardens,” Rankine told Caribbean Life on Friday.

He said that, on May 1, 2024, Roadblock Radio began broadcasting 24×7 Caribbean content on Audacy, 101.1FM HD3, in the tri-state area, on the same platform as 1010 WINS, CBS Sports, FAN Sports and CBS FM 101.1 FM.

Audacy, Inc., the third largest radio company in the US, owns 235 radio stations across 48 media markets.

In November 2017, the company merged with CBS Radio, the undisputed leader in news and sports radio. CBS radio reaches more than 72 million consumers nationwide each week. Roadblock Radio is owned by G City Entertainment LLC.

Asked about the feedback he has received from listeners in the tri-state, Rankine said, “The feedback has been extremely positive. Everybody loves Roadblock.

“South Florida listeners buckled up, because we are ready to make some noise in the Sunshine state,” he added.

Rankine admitted that it has been a lot of work to get the station this far but acknowledged his biggest supporters.

“My wife, my mother, my kids, our advertisers, the broadcast team that blaze the airwaves and most importantly, the listeners who lock us in each day, I truly appreciate your support,” he said.
