St. Lucia Stars tumbled to their 14th straight defeat, going down to Jamaica Tallawahs by six wickets in the seventh match of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) last Tuesday night at Sabina Park, Jamaica.
The Stars managed to get to 175 all out off their 20 overs after opting to bat first, but the Tallawahs produced a measured run chase to get home with two balls to spare, to post second straight win in the tournament.
They scored their third win the following night when they beat St. Kitts & Nevis, led by hard-hitting batsman Chris Gayle, who top-scored with 24 at the same venue.
New Zealand opener Glen Phillips blasted 50 off 40 balls while West Indies star batsman Rovman Powell steered the Tallawahs to victory with an entertaining knock of 48 from 23 deliveries.
St. Lucia Stars have now lost the opening three fixtures of this year’s tournament and lie at the bottom of the table, and have now not won a game in the tournament since the 2016 edition, after having the dubious honor of going winless last season.
