Jamaican Dancehall legend and Atlanta Love & Hip Hop cast member, Spice will be honored with the official title “Queen of Dancehall” during the 28th rendition of Reggae Sumfest 2020.
According to Marie Driven, the Haitian-American managing partner of the Brooklyn-based entertainment company, Playbookmg, the 2020 Reggae Sumfest takes place from Jun. 16-20 in Montego Bay, Jamaica.
“Watch her ‘spice’ up the show this year by just being the best ‘spice’ she can be,” said Driven about the artiste, who “has made her mark around the world with fantastic music and a vivid personality.
“For years, she has captivated fans with her bright aura,” she added.
The Reggae Sumfest is consistently known as the top dancehall and reggae festival in the world, Driven said.
She said Spice couldn’t help but showcase her excitement for the honor.
“MAN! For years and years, I’ve worked my a** off to push the music that I grew up to another level,” Driven quoted Spice as saying.
“I’m talking about blood sweat and tears,” she added. “So, to be officially honored as ‘The Queen’ of the genre of music I love to make is fantastic.”
Coupled in with her latest hit single “Rolling” and her honor from Harvard University for breaking ground for Caribbean artists, Driven said Spice has been on “a pristine run of success in 2020.
“Her impact in society is becoming more prominent than just music,” she said, adding that “the word icon can be discussed when bringing up Spice’s name.
“Every day, she’s always breaking barriers and the ‘proverbial glass ceiling’ that Black women from the islands have encountered attempting to make it big in the entertainment industry,” Driven continued. “A couple of words can describe Spice with phrases such as ambitious to no ends or talent knows no boundaries. However, what best describes her [is] humble but hungry.”
“2020, and this new decade is mine!” proclaimed Spice about her recent success. “With everything great going on in my life, I still have to work as hard as possible and pray every day, so I stay on top.”
