Soca Warriors fail to qualify

Trinidad and Tobago’s bid to reach the 2018 World Cup Soccer in Russia ended when they crashed to a 3-0 defeat to Panama at the Estadio Rommel Fernandes Stadium in Panama recently.

The Trinidad and Tobago’s Socca Warriors fell behind to Gabriel Torres’ 39th minute goal to be 1-0 down at half time.

A 58the minute goal from Carlyle Mitchell and Abdiel Arroyo’s strike seven minutes from time, ended the Soca Warriors dream to reach Russia next year.

It was their seventh straight defeat in the tournament, leaving them at the bottom in the CONCACAF final round standings on three points with two games left in the campaign.

Powerhouse Mexico top of the standings on l8 points and have already booked their place to next year’s showpiece, while Costa Rica lie second on 15 points and Panama third on 10.

Trinidad and Tobago’s Head Coach Dennis Lawrence said afterwards the entire side was disappointed by the outcome of the campaign.
