Sing It, Shout It, Send It!

Alex Moncada of Alexandria, Virginia was recently announced as the grand prize winner of ‘Love in Any Language’ contest.

The announcement was made live on April 27 at the 2011 Billboard Latin Music Awards Press Conference in Miami, Florida by Daddy Yankee, the Latin Urban Artist of the Decade.

Love in Any Language, a national campaign from Western Union, was created for consumers to express love in a universal way and to pay tribute to mothers, family, friends and loved ones.

According to Western Union, Alex proves he knows how to “Sing It, Shout It, Send It!” with a unique music video.

Moncada was selected as one of the top 10 finalists from hundreds of entrants for his original and personal music video entitled “En Mil Idiomas” (In a Thousand Languages) to express his love and emotion for a girl whose picture he views on his phone.

Moncada created a video featuring young people from different ethnicities showing signs that read, “I Love You” in different languages. As the grand prize winner, Moncada received a trip to the 2011 Billboard Latin Music Conference to formally be presented with the winning prize of $10,000 in person by Daddy Yankee and will perform at the Billboard Bash.

“Western Union’s Love in Any Language campaign is designed to honor mothers, family, friends and loved ones, who have all provided us so much throughout the years. The campaign takes the approach of using music, which is universally used to express love towards others in any language, as a way to empower consumers during the Mother’s Day season,” said Victoria Lopez-Negrete, Western Union’s senior vice president and general manager, North America.

Lopez-Negrete added, “Western Union helps consumers send the gift of love year round and we are excited to see the overwhelming responses from this multi- faceted, integrated consumer campaign.”

Public voting determined the top 10 finalists and, ultimately, one grand prize winner was selected by a judging panel. Love in Any Language also allowed those who did not wish to enter to participate by posting a “shout out” just for fun.
