It was an important mid season game. It was one of the most unique games one could ever see. With both teams playing good defense in the first half, the game took tremendous turns in the second half.
The Canarsie Chiefs and Boys and Girls were part of several fumbles on kick offs and special teams in the second half. Many were disputed. Several of the fumbles were discussed lengthily. One fumble required 25 minutes of referee discussion. Both Canarsie Coach Mike Camardes and Boys and Girls Coach Clive Harding had differing opinions on several calls.
In the end, Canarsie Chief Elijah Cole would provide the winning margin by retrieving an errant fumble as Canarsie would defeat Boys and Girls by a score of 22 to 6. Cole is a receiver as well and is among the PSAL league leaders with nine receptions on the year.
Canarsie quarterback Giovanni Alexis, a league leader, seventh in the league with 476 passing yards on the season was held in check by Boys and Girls, especially in the first half. Keon Marsh with 403 yards on the season, quarterbacks for Boys and Girls.
Canarsie at 5-1 hopes to make a run for the city championship. They have three regular season games remaining including one against 6 and 0 Abraham Lincoln. Boys and Girls now at three wins and three losses has the 5 and 1 Sheepshead Bay team among their last three opponents.
Perennial powerhouse Fort Hamilton has Erasmus and Abraham Lincoln among their last three opponents. Then it is on to the playoffs for the best teams.
