This is the time to appoint West Indies wicketkeeper/batsman Denesh Ramdin to captain the West Indies cricket Test team and move Dwayne Bravo to the Twenty20 captaincy. This means that Bravo will captain the One-Day Internationals (ODI) and the Twenty20 matches for the West Indies.
Captain Darren Sammy must shoulder some blame for the long and frustrating losses that the West Indies have suffered. He has been an underachieving in Test cricket. When the captaincy is dealt with, then the composition of the team will be organized in the best interest of West Indies cricket. Denesh Ramdin must be appointed West Indies Test captain to give a new image and strength to the West Indies Test team.
TWO SPINNERS FOR TESTS
Nikita Miller, the left-arm spinner, is also a valuable batsman who is capable of making runs for the West Indies. His inclusion will add strength to the team. Miller is experienced and he will serve the team well at Test and ODI levels. With two valuable spinners, two pacers in the experienced Kemar Roach and Tino Best who has finally come through with the new ball, the West Indies will be in a position to do well. However, it must first start with the captaincy. Sammy must be relieved of the captaincy. His reign has been extended for too long.
EDWARDS, BRAVO SCORE TONS AS WINDIES TIE SERIES
Kirk Edwards, 123 not out, Dwayne Bravo 106 and Kieran Powell 73 from 44 balls steered the West Indies to 363 runs for 4 wickets in their final ODI match against New Zealand.
The New Zealand team was bowled out for 160 in 29.5 overs with Nikita Miller getting 4 for 45 off 10 overs, Andre Russell 2 for 31 off 4 overs, Jason Holder 2 for 35 off 5 overs while Dwayne Bravo picked up one wicket. West Indies won by 203 runs.
Windies selectors must prepare themselves to implement a better selection process so that the best players can be selected.
