Hundreds of party goers jamed and rocked to the Brassfest line up at the Brooklyn Musuem on Eastern Parkway on Friday, Aug 29.
The event organized by the West Indian American Day Carnival Assosiation (WIADCA) featured the finest American, Caribbean and African musicians and acts.
The talented superstars and up and comers included the Red Fyah Band, The Big Show, Young Devinn, Skinny Fabulous, Lyrikal, Patrice Roberts, Farmer Nappy, Rayzor, Mr. Killa, Ghanian artist Blakk Rasta, Teddyson John and the TJ Project along with headliner Soca star, Machel Montano HD. DJ’s Sounds 4 Life, Stephen, After Dark and Spice provided the Caribbean vibes and high energy.
The cast reflected WIADCA’s push for Caribbean inclusiveness in the festival and recognition that putting together a Caribbean cast is a sensible, sound policy.
Both young people and grown folks partied alike. Three-time soca monarch of Trinidad and Tobago, Machel Montano did not disappoint. By his own admission, New York is a place that he calls home and it showed by the way he put his all in rocking the crowd on Friday night.
As expected when he hit the stage it was standing room only event, his performance went from zero to 100 in seconds. One of the highlights of the performance was when Montano allowed a young adoring fan to come up on stage and do a dance performance as he sang. It was definitely an experience that the young lady would not soon forget. He was supported by a cast of dancers along with fellow talented performers, Farmer Nappy and Patrice Roberts.
