Derese Rashaw, #2989, cutting two minutes off the Bedford Stuyvesant 10K record, was the first man in on Sunday, Oct. 9 with a time of 42.01.9.
Hundreds of runners and walkers attended the 30th Annual 10K Community Run and Fun Walk organized by Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration Corporation.
Restoration’s 10K is one of the premier 10K’s held in New York City and welcomes people of all ages and fitness levels. Last year’s race attracted more than 650 participants from the tri-state region.
“Restoration’s 10K Community Run and Fun Walk is a New York tradition with a distinct neighborhood feel, celebrating health and wellness while showcasing Bedford Stuyvesant’s historic brownstones,” described Tracey Capers, Restoration’s executive vice president for Programs and Organizational Development.”
The 10K Community Run and Fun Walk was hosted this year by News 12’s Alecia Reid. Notably, the race introduced the first ever Team Restoration, Restoration’s ING NYC Marathon team, which ran the 10K as a warm up to their debut in November.
