Deccan Gladiators won by 10 wickets against Chennai Braves in the Abu Dhabi T10 League, with Nicholas Pooran and Andre Russell playing key roles.

Gladiators reached their target of 84 with 23 balls to spare, thanks to Pooran’s unbeaten 35 and Tom Kohler-Cadmore’s 44 not out. Russell took three wickets for 12 runs from his two overs to limit Braves to 83 for 8 off their 10 overs.

Gladiators are now one of three teams at the top of the standings on six points.

In the second game, Bangla Tigers defended 137 to win by two runs against an opening partnership of Hazratullah Zazai and Kennar Lewis. Carlos Brathwaite took two wickets for 26 runs in his two overs of medium pace, while Dominic Drakes held his nerve in a tense last over with 17 runs required.

In the day’s opening contest, Jason Holder starred with the ball but flopped with the bat as his Samp Army beat Delhi Bulls by four wickets.

Holder claimed three wickets for 15 runs to help restrict Bulls to 95 for 8, but perished for a first-ball ‘duck’ in reply.

Faf du Plessis and Najibullah Zadran helped Samp Army get home with two balls to spare. Bulls and Samp Army are also among the three teams at the top of the standings.
