Brooklyn Sen. Roxanne J. Persaud will on Saturday, Dec. 14, host a coding event for girls, the “Holiday Tynker-ing Workshop,” at the Mill Basin Branch of the Brooklyn Public Library.
The library is located at 2385 Ralph Ave., near Ave N, Brooklyn, NY 11234.
Persaud, representative for the 19th Senatorial District in Brooklyn, said the workshop, which will be held in collaboration with Digital Girl Inc., runs from 2:00-4:00 p.m.
“This workshop will allow girls, Grade 3 and up, to create their own virtual maze game, using holiday props and characters, which their friends or family can play,” she said.
“Digital Girl Inc. seeks to encourage inner city youth, especially girls, to pursue careers in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math,” she said.
“They are motivated by the United States overall lag in producing an adequate number of STEM professionals, and the under representation of women and people of color,” the senator continued.
