Brooklyn Sen. Roxanne J. Persaud says she will hold her 2019 Annual Senior Resource Day next Thursday, Sept. 5.
The Guyanese-born legislator, who represents the 19th Senatorial District in Brooklyn, said the event is “for seniors to get to know other seniors in the community and receive important information and resources.”
She said the 2019 Annual Senior Resource Day, held in partnership with Sunrise Adult Health Care Center and Millennium Development, takes place from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., at her District Office, 1222 E, 96th St., in the Canarsie section of Brooklyn.
“It is free and open to everyone,” Persaud said, stating that, last year, the event drew a large crowd and featured fun activities, like raffles and dancing.
She said representatives from dozens of city and state agencies attended last year’s event.
“It is not always easy to meet the needs of constituents,” Persaud said. “However, I visit and interact with my seniors at their senior centers and place of worship; or, my office informs me of their unique needs and concerns.
“It feels gratifying to hear them say that they are looking forward to next year,” she added. “I feel a sense of duty to ensure that I allocate more resources so that our active adults continue to enjoy the benefits they deserve.”
