DR. GREGORY WILLIAMS
For today’s young generation of Grenadians, the name “Social” or Dr. Gregory Williams may not be significant but in the late 1950s and early 1960s Williams was one of Grenada’s finest sport personalities and role model.
He was a brilliant track & field athlete, cricketer and soccer player at the Grenada Boys’ Secondary School (GBSS) and upon graduation for the soccer club, “Dauntless.” He also represented Grenada in regional soccer.
A great GBSS student and “Hostel Boy,” it was not surprising that Williams became a distinguished obstetrician, gynecologist and ordained minister.
One of his six children, Jumaane Williams, is a New York City Councilman, the first Grenadian-American to hold this elected office.
Condolences may be faxed to (910) 938-5999 or call (910) 938-2151 for additional info.
The funeral will be held on Saturday, June 22, 11:00am at Abundant Life International Cathedral, 1518 Gum Branch Road, Jacksonville, NC.
ALEC TELESFORD
Alec Telesford was also a GBSS student and “Hostel Boy.” Three Telesford brothers attended the GBSS and boarded at the hostel at the same time. While at the GBSS, Alec and his twin brother, “Fly”, left for the U.S.
The Vietnam War was at its peak and the Telesford brothers joined the U.S. military, a requirement at that time, and all three may have served in Vietnam.
Alec presided as head of the Alumni Association of the Grenada Boys’ Secondary School, NY. For years, he led drives to purchase computers, desks and other supplies for his beloved GBSS.
After a career in law enforcement, Alec Telesford went back to Grenada where he served as a consultant to the Grenada government. The final rites for Alec Telesford who hailed from La Digue, St. Andrew, Grenada, will be held on:
Monday, June 24, 4:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m.
Tuesday, June 25, 9:00 a.m.
