Pakistan crushed West Indies in their first of four Twenty20 matches which began at the Kensington Oval, Barbados on Sunday, March 26.
The Windies defeat was largely responsible to the guile of 19-year-old Pakistan debutant leg-spinner Shadab Khan who claimed 3 wickets for 1 run in his first three overs and ended with 3 for 7 runs in his allotted four overs.
He was named Man-of-the- Match.
The regional team after batting at 49 for 6 slumped to a paltry 111 for 8 in their 20 overs.
Pakistan in their turn at the crease never really looked in danger but had to overcome a few early hiccups in the middle-order batting but ended up scoring 115 for 4 in the 17th over.
West Indies continued from their 3-0 whitewash by Pakistan in the United Arab Emirates last September.
The hosts struggled to get going as wickets continued to fall as Kieron Pollard (14), Marlon Samuels (1) and Lendl Simmons (1) failed to get more runs. It was only captain Carlos Brathwaite (34) who was able to score 34.
West Indies was sent in to bat by Pakistan and from early, 3 wickets tumbled for 42 runs on the board.
The series will head to the Queen’s Park Oval with two matches — Thursday and Saturday — before moving on to Guyana for the final Twenty20.
