It is now official! Dancehall star David ‘Mavado’ Brooks, who has a special love affair with music fans in the tri-state area, will be one of the headline performers alongside ‘My Dream’ singer Nesbeth, at the 3rd annual Oracabessa Festival that takes place at Roy Wilkins Park in Queens on Memorial Monday, May 30, 2016.
Mavado has enjoyed many solid performances in New York dating back to his 2008 outing at Irie Jamboree at Roy Wilkins Park in Queens. He returned to his stumping ground for another celebrated performance in 2011 when he charmed fans with hits such as ”Delilah,” “Gully Side,” “On The Go (Faster Than Bullet)” and “Star Boy. He is primed for another big performance on Memorial Monday and should be able to easily stamp his class with hit singles “Fathers Prayer,” “Cassava Piece Radio,” “Sadness,” “Stulla” and “Mad Over.”
“Mavado is an entertaining performer who has a knack for rising to the top when the spotlight is on him” event organizer and Executive VP of Irie Jam Media, Louie Grant explained.
“He is excited about performing at Oracabessa this year and fans are eager to see him showcase his musical dexterity and the many sides of David Brooks,” Grant noted.
The Gully Gad is enjoying a surge in popularity on wax with his current hit “My League,” which has been heating up dancehall charts globally and enjoying heavy rotation on stations in Jamaica, the USA, Canada, Japan and parts of Europe. Joining Mavado and Nesbeth on stage at Oracabessa will be ‘Mr. Smooth’ Ken Boothe, Vershon and Soca King Mighty Sparrow.
