Nine uncapped players in West Indies ODI squad for Bangladesh tour

The 38-member West Indies squad arrived earlier this week in Dhaka to become the first international team to arrive in Bangladesh since the COVID-19 outbreak.

The pandemic has already has hit the squad after fast bowler, Romario Shepherd, who was part of the One-Day International team, returned a positive result for the COVID-19 virus in Guyana prior to their departure.

Keon King, 24, Barbados fast bowler has been named as Shepherd’s replacement, making it nine uncapped players in the 15-man One-Day International squad. Due to the pandemic, several top West Indies cricketers have opted out of the tour from both the One-Day Internationals and Tests.

Those who arrived on Sunday will undergo COVID-19 tests after which they will isolate themselves in their hotel rooms before being tested again.

West Indies will play a warm up One-Day International at the BKSP ground in Savar on Jan. 18, before the first One-Day International on Jan. 20.
