Using their talents to help those in need.
Caribbean musical artists Lyrikal and Kerwin Dubois will be performing at a Hurricane Irma benefit concert to help victims of the devastating cyclone in Queens on Sept. 17.
The soca performers have teamed up with the West Indian American Day Carnival Association (WIADCA) and the Caribbean American Center of New York (CACNY) to raise donations for the affected communities in the Caribbean.
The concert will be held at Mazi Night Club featuring performances from the soca artists, as well as appearances by Skinny Fabulous, Mr Legz, Problem Child, Twists, One Voice, Teddyson John, and Ricardo Drue. The night will be hosted by viral comedian Majah Hype.
Several countries in the Caribbean sustained a lot of damage and floods after Irma ravaged the region, particularly Antigua and Barbuda, the Virgin Islands, Turks and Caicos, Cuba, Anguilla, and Saint Martin. Other countries specifically Bahamas, Dominican Republic, Haiti, and Puerto Rico, were spared from the worst of the tropical storm but many residents were displaced due to severe flooding and loss of power.
Donations of items such as non-perishable foods, utensils, toiletries, sanitary napkins, canned foods, clothing, new undergarments, first-aid supplies, dental care and bathing products, are a few items that will be accepted to give away. Drop-offs of these donations can be made to the offices of CACNY, located at 195 Cadman Plaza and WIADCA at 323 Rogers Avenue.
All ticket proceeds will go to assisting victims of Hurricane Irma, and guests can make monetary donations of any amount.
