Now in its fifth year, the annual Long Island Caribbean American Heritage Festival is back as strong as ever to regale attendees with a smorgasbord of Caribbean cultural fair.

The event which runs from June 6-14, has evolved into a regionally sought-after summer staple for the Long Island, metropolitan New York, tri-state area and surrounding communities.

This year the events will not only include local but international Caribbean artists of various disciplines including reggae, soca, calypso, compa, salsa, bachata, garifuna, and punta rock.

The events will be featured at several locations throughout Long Island. There will be the “Savor the Islands” Caribbean American Restaurant Weekend June 6, 7 and 8, various location and a Business Round Table on June 7, 8:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.

On June 13, the inaugural Caribbean Heritage State Ball will be held at The Carltun, 18-89 Hempstead Turnpike East Meadows located in Eisenhower Park, Hempstead, Long Island.

In addition, there will be a special “New Legend” award to be presented to international reggae star Sanchez. The festival will also feature a tribute to steel-pan performed by the Adlib Steel Orchestra.

The Family Fun Day/Music Fest will be on June 14 to be held at the Eisenhower Park’s Lakeside Amphitheater. The Caribbean Open Golf Tournament, The LICAHF Adult and Youth Soccer and Netball Tournaments will also take place in the park. The events will showcase some of the most spectacular new and emerging musical talents in the industry.

Artists for the all-day festival include Sanchez, Platinum One Band, Ed Robinson, DJ Ras Marcus, Adlib Steel Orchestra, Eddie Neeblett, Stephen Souza, Shane Hoosong, Charmaine and Likkle Big Band, Sherry Morgan, Lenya Wilks, Queen Tubby – Royal Heart Sound, Rohan Timol—Delta Force, Zeelamac, Anthem Band, Denise De La Cruz, Ky-Enie, Thair, Nachie Bless, Jerry Ruben, Jeremiah, Santa Ranks, Gumbae Culture, DJ/Selectors Road International, Twin Thumb High Quality and Camouflage.

Over the last five years, the LICAHF festival initiative has featured more than 200 artists and performers and has had an excess of some 40,000 attendees celebrating cross-cultural heritage and the cultures of the Caribbean.

LICAHF is an opportunity to profile the legacy as well as the evolution of Caribbean international business and trade throughout the last 50 years and examines the role they play in sustaining the brand globally. The project will engage business communities in addition to fusing multi-ethnic audiences from the New York City and tri-state area.

The festival organizers will produce these events in association with various community 501c3 organizations that are committed to bringing together the many multicultural communities, expressly for the inclusion and collaboration of world arts and culture for a common cause for the preservation of ethnic and national heritages.

LICAHF has been attempting to create links that will fuse corporations, businesses and organizations and showcase the creative talents of highly accomplished emerging artists.
