In what is regarded as an ongoing commitment to provide critical health information and services to Brooklynites, NYC Health + Hospitals/Kings County has launched Facebook and Twitter accounts to personalize patient outreach and expand communications.
The sprawling hospital in the epicenter of the Caribbean community in Brooklyn urged patients, staff and community members to follow the hospital on Facebook and Twitter, @KingsCountyHosp.
The hospital said it will provide news and updates on advance equipment, relevant health topics, innovative treatment services, health screenings, patient testimonials, physician profiles and patient feedback.
“With these new digital platforms, NYC Health + Hospitals/Kings County, the largest public hospital in Brooklyn, aims to educate and continue supporting New Yorkers to live their healthiest lives,” said the hospital in a statement on Thursday.
Sheldon McLeod, chief executive officer at NYC Health Hospitals/Kings County, said social media “provides us an opportunity to expand our reach digitally.
“Our new social media platforms will serve as an additional tool to educate, engage and empower our central Brooklyn community, as well as individuals globally,” he said.
In celebrating the digital launch, the hospital hosted a congratulatory, networking, kick-off event on Nov. 8.
“During the red carpet revelries, community health leaders, community advisory board members, employees, patients, and guests gathered to take selfies, record videos, enjoy music, give-a-ways and raffle prizes,” the hospital said.
NYC Health + Hospitals/Kings County is the third facility in the city’s public health system with social media accounts, and the only facility that has Facebook.
