St. Vincent and the Grenadines-born Kamala K. Millwood, founder, and president of Palatial Publishing LLC., kicked off her very first book tour on Sunday, July 28, with grand fan fair at the Brooklyn Children’s Museum in Crown Heights.
The successful afternoon’s event that commenced with an hours long business owners networking session, and attended by a wide cross-section of the community, was a long time in the making, said Millwood, whose concept is to read stories from her collection of Peach the Duck series in schools, hospitals, and libraries, across the boroughs to inspire literacy.
The children’s book author, who is on a mission, to inspire, educate and stimulate the minds of children, told Caribbean Life, that she had planned to promote the launch as a free event, but instead she reached out to entrepreneurs and invited them to sponsor the book tour, and would in turn would profile the business on her media platforms, that has a total of 200,000 followers, while creating a space for them to meet and greet, and share ideas for success.
“I started speaking to businesses, and discovered that some are financially stable, while others are not doing so great, so it was a great idea to bring them together, prior to the tour launch so they better understand each other’s business, and how they could be of help to each other,” she explained.
Millwood, the daughter of the late Kenton K. Kirby, former Editor-in-chief of Caribbean Life News, from whom she has gained lots of knowledge, has written eight books in the Peach the Duck series. She admits to working twenty-four-seven for the success of her business, while wearing many hats. As a mobile notary, life coach, business consultant, fitness instructor, and public speaker, Millwood prides herself on being a focused professional. Her success is defined by her work ethic, and engaging personality.
“I share information on my social media platforms that, educates, uplifts, informs, and inspires,” said Millwood, who’s company Palatial Published, an (M/MBE) certified company, recently produced the works of author Lori-Anne Danielle Dennis. The children’s book – “The two tiny Giants”, is the first for the company since its inception nine years ago.
“I’m not just a producer of books I also have a video game called recipe Peach on apple iTunes, shared the hardworking lady, adding.
“I believe that we all have our gifts and our talents, and many times people are afraid of success. They are afraid to go out and step up and try because maybe they were told growing up, you’d never amount to anything, and you’re not good enough, and they listen to the noise of what others say, she expressed.
Palatial Publishing LLC has a proven track record, having conducted over 1800 school visits, addressed bullying issues, and provided public speaking training over the past decade.
The publishing company’s commitment to literacy and empowerment has been acknowledged with numerous proclamations from elected officials for its commendable community work.
