Impressions Dance Theatre will present “A Journey To New Beginnings” -when its 10th Anniversary Dance Recital takes to the stage of the Jamaica Performing Arts Center, located at 153-10 Jamaica Ave. in Queens.
The Sunday, June 25 show will begin at 4:00 p.m., and will bring together a diverse group of young students of Caribbean, Latin America, Canadian and American roots to exhibit their skills and love of the art form applied during one year of class sessions.
The music of award-winning artists such as Celine Dion, Beyonce, Deborah Cox, Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston and others will bring the audience alive when the students take center stage to celebrate this significant milestone.
Renowned Trinidad-born dancer, singer and artistic director Michael Manswell will be the Emcee of the show.
The Cambria Heights Impressions Dance Theatre is the recipient of numerous awards for their show-stopping performances at the Guyana Folk Festival in Brooklyn, New York City Hall, City College and The Holiday Inn.
The students have also performed at the Barbados Springer Alumnae Association, the Empire State Grand Chapter, and the Harry Bissoon Guyana Day Celebration, in addition to a presentation that was well received at the Prince of Peach Lutheran Church in Queens.
President and Artistic Director Verna Walcott-White said she is excited to showcase the talents of her dancers during two hours of energetic choreography that will showcase elements of Afro Caribbean, Ballet, Pointe, Modern, Praise/Liturgical, Indian Classical and Hip Hop.
Walcott-White expressed pride at the incredible milestone her students have achieved, and look forward to what is expected to be a spectacular presentation.
An award-winning choreographer, Walcott-White describes herself as a creative, prolific and proficient artist whose experience derives from many regional and international tours and performances workshops. She was an instructor with the Guyana National School of Dance, and a member/choreographer with the Guyana National Dancer Company.
