Discover Dominica Authority (DDA) says renowned Trinidadian jazz trumpeter Etienne Charles, will among others, headline Dominica’s annual Jazz ‘n Creole Festival on Sunday, May 4.
DDA said Charles will be among regional artists performing at Fort Shirley in Cabrits National Park.
Other performers include: opera and jazz vocalist Marie-Claire Giraud (Dominica/New York); GRAMMY-nominated reggae artist Etana (Jamaica); and Dominicans Swingin’ Stars, Signal Band, ColtonT, Abiyah Israel, Marie Pascale, Shalina and Carlyn XP.
DDA said the festival blends “the smooth rhythms of jazz with rich Caribbean soul, offering visitors a uniquely immersive cultural experience on one of the Caribbean’s most untouched islands.
“The 2025 lineup includes a dynamic mix of acclaimed artists from Dominica, the wider Caribbean, and international talent,” it added.
In addition to the main event, DDA said visitors can enjoy a week of fringe activities leading up to the festival, including intimate jazz sessions, cultural showcases, and lively pop-up performances around the island.
DDA said festivalgoers are invited to embrace the official dress theme, “Sunset Creole Chic”—a colorful nod to Dominica’s dramatic sunsets.
DDA said Jazz ‘n Creole is one of three signature festivals that define Dominica’s rich cultural calendar.
Known for its authentic and safe celebrations, DDA said the festival is part of a yearlong rhythm of music and culture across the island.
In the fall, DDA said Dominica hosts the World Creole Music Festival, a three-day celebration of Caribbean and Creole sound, dance and culture in the lead-up to Independence Day in November.
Earlier in the year, DDA said Mas Dominik, Dominica’s Carnival celebration, takes place as one of the Caribbean’s most authentic cultural expressions, featuring traditional music, dance and colorful masquerade.
DDA said attendees of Jazz ‘n Creole can also savor traditional Creole cuisine, explore local artisan booths, and enjoy family-friendly activities—all set against the historic and scenic backdrop of Cabrits National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site candidate located on Dominica’s northwestern coast.
