Jamaica Impact, Inc. (JAMPACT) has announced that Caribbean International Network (CIN) Television will be the recipient of its prestigious Community Service Award at JAMPACT’s annual C.H.I.C. Benefit Gala. The honor, which recognizes organizations that provide a significant benefit to the Caribbean community, will be bestowed on CIN during the gala on June 29, 2013 at the DiMenna Center for Classical Music in Manhattan.
The Benefit Gala is in conjunction with JAMPACT’s capital campaign: Educate A Child. Build A School. Strengthen A Nation, which aims to raise funds to rebuild the Maxfield Park Children’s Home Basic School in Kingston, Jamaica. Maxfield Park serves as a home for the children who are wards of the state and many of them have special needs. The current infrastructure, made of untreated wood, is termite infested and in significant disrepair. JAMPACT intends to construct a new building to replace the inadequate facility, an estimated $100,000 project.
“The Community Service Award is presented to Caribbean International Network (CIN) because it allows the Caribbean Diaspora to maintain an authentic connection with their culture through education, sports, entertainment, and business” JAMPACT’President Dale Todd noted.
The group sees the CIN motto: “Your Home Away From Home” as clearly evident in its programming and intricately serves as medium of connection.
“CIN has been extensively supportive of charitable organizations like JAMPACT through coverage and showcasing of our work,” Todd added. “Particularly for JAMPACT, for the past four years there has been a successful partnership with CIN in hosting the annual CIN Lecture Series at the Schomburg Center.” Other Honorees at the Gala include philanthropist and professional matchmaker Paul C. Brunson and The Union of Jamaican Alumni Associations (USA), Inc. (UJAA).
