Jamaican sprint superstar, Usain Bolt has been voted Caribbean Sports Journalists Association (CASJA) Sportsman of the Year.
Bolt, who won three gold medals at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, earned him a clear victory.
Another Jamaican Elaine Thompson captured the CASJA Sportswoman of the Year award for completing the women’s sprint double at the Rio Olympics.
The rising star was also a bronze medalist in the 60-meter dash at the 2016 IAAF World Indoor Championships in Portland, Oregon, USA.
Bahamian Shaunae Millers, the Olympic 400m champion, was a nominee for Sportswoman of the Year.
Antiguan fast bowler Alzarri Joseph was named Junior Sportsman of the Year for his role in the West Indies victory at the Under-19 Cricket World Cup.
The Under-19s were named Male Team of the Year.
Barbadian all-rounder Hayley Matthews is the Junior Sportswoman of the Year. She scored 66 in the final of the 2016 ICC Women’s World Twenty20 which earned West Indies an eight-wicket victory over Australia.
West Indies Women secured the global title Female Team of the Year honor.
