England, New Zealand and the West Indies started off their World Cup Ventures in fine style with the combination of bowling and batting in fantastic style. Chris Gayle bomblasted his way to an unbeaten century against England and Andre Fletcher swash-buckled 84 from 64 balls. New Zealand bowled out Australia for 79 runs after scoring 120 runs for 7 wickets.
Mitchell Santner, the left arm spinner ripped through the Aussies batting picking up 4 for 11 from 4 overs and Ish Sodhiz for 18 from 4 overs.
South Africa scored 229 for four against England and England returned and scored 230 for 8 with Joe Root scoring 83 from 44 balls and Jason Roy 43 from 16 steadied the England innings.
AUSTRALIA LOSS AGAINST NEW ZEALAND WAS RECKLESS
The run out of opening batsman Usman Khawaga for 33 was uncalled for. The second run was not on and even if it was on, it was too risky at that stage of the game because Australia was well placed with only two wickets down. Just after David Warner run out, Khawaga, Warner hit out too deep mid-wicket and was caught. This was super reckless of Warner. Shane Watson and Usman Khawaga put on 50 runs in 6 overs. Thus there was no need to do anything silly.
Glenn Maxwell’s reverse sweep is no longer beneficial to the team. Maxwell’s batting at number five is very essential to the Aussies because he is a superb hitter. Aaron Finch is not in the final 11 because Khawaga is in excellent form thus capturing his place in the squad.
Maxwell should not be bowling in these games unless absolutely necessary. Adam Zampa, the spinner should be the only recognized spinner in the team. Ashton Agars should not be in the squad and should make way for the seamer Josh Hazlewood.
Aussies captain Steve Smith has an array of seam bowlers which he can utilize he has to use them appropriately. Adam Zampa is a spinner who shows good techniques and has the ability to take wickets. Aussies seamers must be put to work.
DAVID WARNER SHOULD RETURN TO OPEN THE INNINGS
David Warner and Shane Watson should start for the Aussies and drop Khawaga to number four behind Captain Steve Smith, this would enable the team to create stability.
