India’s Captain Mahendra Singh Dhondi is fully aware of the type of cricket that the West Indies play and in addition to that he sees them in the IPL in his team and on the opposite side. What is surprising is that the West Indies head coach Otis Gibson did not come up with a different strategy for India. No team can come up against a power team such as India in this type of cricket.

In spite of the West Indies strong batting, some of their batsmen have major flaws with their technique and under pressure. This result was not surprising.
DHAWAN, JADEJA STEER INDIA TO VICTORY
Some fascinating bowling from Ravindra Jadeja taking 5 wickets for 36 runs from 10 overs with two maidens stunned the West Indies and shook up their strong batting line up. Jadeja literally toppled the West Indies batting. A partnership of 78 runs between Johnson Charles and Darren Bravo did not help the West Indies too much as wickets fell frequently. A late gallop by Darren Sammy batting at number eight pushed the West Indies from 171 for 7 in 42.1 overs to 233 for 9 in 50 overs.
The West Indies scored 62 runs in 7.5 overs with Sammy scoring 56 not out from 35 balls with five fours and four sixes. Johnson Charles scored 60 runs from 55 balls.
SHIKHAR DHAWAN SCORES TON
Opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan scored 102 runs not out from 107 balls and Dinesh Karthik 51 from 54 balls not out as India reached 236 runs for 2 wickets in 39.1 overs, winning the game quite comfortable. That was a big loss for the West Indies. Sunil Narine was the only wicket taker for the West Indies with 2 for 49 from 10 overs.
WEST INDIES DEFEATS PAKISTAN
West Indies One-Day International Captain Dwayne Bravo won the toss in the second game of the Champions Trophy 2013. India had defeated South Africa in the first game of the ICC Champions Trophy. The West Indies sent Pakistan in to bat and after some quick and hostile bowling from pacer, Kemar Roach, Pakistan was reeling at 15 runs for 3 wickets with Roach taking all three wickets. He missed a fourth wicket, that of Pakistani Captain Misbah-ul-Haq, when wicket keeper Denesh Ramdin put him down before he scored.
PAKISTAN 90-RUN PARTNERSHIP
Pakistan Captain Misbah-ul-Haq and opening batsman Nasir Jamshed tried desperately to fend off the pace of Roach and Rampaul and the spin of Sunil Narine. They gathered 90 runs together before Jameshed fell for 50 off 93 balls. After Pakistan reached 105 for four after 25 overs, they soon fell for 170 runs all out after 48 overs. Captain Misbah-ul-Haq was left not out on 96 from 127 balls.
West Indies pacer Kemar Roach claimed 3 wickets for 28 runs off 10 overs with four maidens. Rampaul, the seamer, 1 wicket for 39 runs from 10 overs, Narine 3 wickets for 34 runs from 10 overs and one maiden and Dwayne Bravo, one wicket for 29 runs off 9 overs. Two run outs came about during the Pakistani innings.
The West Indies team batted steadily but lost wickets frequently. They struggled at 1 for 11, 2 for 15 and they made a remarkable recovery with Chris Gayle and Marlon Samuels gathering a partnership of 63 runs for the third wicket before Gayle went for 39 from 47 balls and Samuels for 30 from 58 balls. Kieron Pollard’s first six runs took him 33 balls before he scored his last 24 from 25 balls. Bravo scored 19 from 36 balls before he was trapped leg before. Sunil Narine scored 11 from 18; Denesh Ramdin 11 not out from 14 balls and Kemar Roach slammed a boundary giving West Indies victory at 172 for 8 off 40.4 overs.
Pollard and Bravo shared in a partnership of 43 runs from 58 balls, from 94 for 5 to 137 for 6.
