The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced that India would play a four-match Test series in the Caribbean, starting in July this year — signaling renewed relations between the BCCI and the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB).
In a statement the BCCI said that the “outstanding issues” from the abandonment had been “resolved.”
The West Indies had pulled out midway through a tour of India in October 2014 amid claim of payment disputes between players and the WICB.
The BCCI officials were angered by the development and were seeking compensation from the WICB for the abandoned tour.
But that issue was recently resolved and the two cricketing countries have resumed relations.
WICB President Dave Cameron said, “We are extremely delighted that concerns which arose due to the incomplete tour have been addressed and would like to thank the BCCI for reviving our ties.”
He said the cricket fans of the Caribbean are now keenly looking forward to witness some exciting contests between the two teams.
The first Test is expected to get underway in Antigua, with the second in St. Lucia and the third in Jamaica.
The fourth and final Test will take place at the Queen’s Park Oval, Port of Spain, Trinidad from Aug. 19-24.
