I am behind on my mortgage and still looking for a new job since I was recently laid off. Please, is there any help for someone like me?

Answer:

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) is helping eligible homeowners behind on their mortgage and who have become unemployed, had a reduction of income due to the economy or became ill.

You may be eligible for up to $50,000 assistance from the government to pay your mortgage past due payments and future payments for up to two years.
