The Mount Vernon Neighborhood Health Center (MTVNHC) and the Greenburgh Health Center (GHC) located in Mount Vernon and Greenburgh/White Plains, respectively, held health fairs during National Health Center Week, Aug. 5 – 11, and provided blood pressure, height, weight, pregnancy, glucose, rapid HIV tests, vision, emergency contraception, nutrition, prostate, breast, colorectal and cervical cancer health screenings and family planning all free of charge to the public.

Representatives from various agencies, service organizations, businesses and health organizations were on hand during both events distributing free information, education and literature to visitors. Refreshments, giveaways and entertainment were also part of the events.

Though rain fell during the Greenburgh health fair held on Aug. 10, festivities continued in the GHC rear parking area as the large crowd of visitors gathered under a massive blue tent provided by the Health Center. Much of the crowd did not seem bothered by the rainy weather as they took advantage of various health screenings, enjoyed music played by a DJ, food, refreshments and ice cream. The now annual GHC health fair held its mark as a favorite event for locals and patients.
