Lead selector Desmond Haynes believes the West Indies T20 and 50-over squads must be given a chance to impress after being outplayed by India and New Zealand in back-to-back series in the Caribbean, recently.
India won the five-match T20 series 4-1 and the T20 and 50-over series 2-1.
Haynes, the former West Indies opening batsman and vice captain, wants fans to be patient despite results not going in the West Indies favor.
“We believe that we believe that we must give them a chance and give them more opportunities,” Haynes said.
He said changes may be made to the squad before the 2022 T20 World Cup bowls off in Australia in October.
Speaking in support of Haynes, West Indies Head Coach, Phil Simmons said people should be committed to West Indies cricket.
Simmons said he was aware that there were many options now with T20 leagues and other forms of the game being popular and lucrative.
