Congratulations to Soyini Fraser, Miss United Nations 2012, who is still on cloud nine after her massive win at the recent Miami, Florida pageant, where she beat out 51 other contestants to captured the distinguished crown, on Saturday, July 7.
The svelte Guyanese beauty was on a tour of the Big Apple to celebrate at the institution that bears the name of the pageant, when I caught up to her on Manhattan’s East side, wearing a stunning color blocking mini dress of fuchsia, pink, and blue.
The 22-year-old theology student, who gushed about her lovely name “Soyini” as being Ghanaian, and chosen by her dad, was judged in categories of swimwear, cultural costume and evening gown.
The Miss Guyana World 2012, runner-up, and Miss Princess of the World 2011, queen, is on track to graduate with a double major. She holds an associate degree and will complete her Bachelor’s degree in Child Psychology from the Guyana based Florida University, next year.
The brainy young lady, who is employed at the Georgetown High Court, will follow this path to also become a lawyer she said, to represent children in cases of abuse.
Soyini aced the rigorous Q&A process as part of the pageant rules before being chosen by owners Mr. and Mrs. Holland. She will use her title to keep anti-domestic violence visible at home.
“I am concerned that domestic violence does not only affect women, but men also, said Soyini who is passionate about speaking out against this scourge that has become prevalent in her homeland.
“I am happy that I won the title of Miss United Nations, but the crown belongs to Guyana. I want the world to know that Guyana has lots to offer. My country is beautiful, and we have talented beautiful ladies who will be seen on the international stage for years to come.”
Soyini’s next goal is to compete in the Miss Guyana Universe Pageant next year. In the meantime, she will enjoy her cash prize and trips to Miami and Jamaica.
Good Luck Soyini!
