President of Guyana Donald Ramotar, in collaboration with the International Organization of Migrants, will launch a Guyana Diaspora Project, during a meeting scheduled to take place on Wednesday, Sept. 26, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
The Consulate General of Guyana in New York is inviting all members of the Guyanese community to join the launch of the project that will be addressed by President Ramotar at the Marriott Hotel, located at 525 Lexington Avenue, at 49th street.
The Consulate explained that the collaborative effort would emphasize the importance of the Diaspora, and discus an informed plan to develop a database with the various skills of Guyanese that have migrated to the United States. The statement added that the many highly skilled Guyanese in a variety of disciplines would be an asset to Guyana’s development.
The Guyana database will be able to match the various talents and expertise with the needs of the region. A discussion about the proposed Guyana Web site will help the government to keep in touch with Guyanese that have migrated.
This will hopefully develop an important bridge with the Diaspora. The timing of the launching of the Guyana web site will also be discussed.
