Guyana police are investigating a report of a plot to assassinate the country’s President David Granger.
During a post-Cabinet briefing last week Minister of State Joseph Harmon said the Granger administration got word from the police of the alleged plot and a full scale investigation is underway.
He said investigators have sought legal advice on disclosing any information.
Harmon also said that it is important to note that although the president has good approval ratings, there may be some persons who are misguided.
“It is important that we understand that while we have a popular president, we always have to be careful, the minister said.
Harmon said the government has full confidence in members of all of the security forces to protect the president and all ministers of government.
