Randall Dolland, the new chairman of the Grenada Tourism Authority which goes under the brand name Pure Grenada met with local tourism and press representatives in New York, recently.
Grenadian Dolland was introduced to tourism officials including hoteliers, travel agents and the press during an intimate dinner and networking session at the STK Restaurant in New York, New York on Friday, Oct. 7, 2022.
Director of Sales, USA, Christine Noel-Horsford welcomed and introduced the attendees. She thanked them for their continued support in promoting the Grenada tourism market.
Chief Executive Officer of the Grenada Tourism, Petra Roach in introducing the new chairman said, “This evening it is about a wonderful human being and there is a point I want to share, that says ‘if your actions inspire others to dream more, do more, learn more and become more, you are really talented and Randy joined us. The administration changed on June 23 and we really prayed that he would be the chairman and the Lord answered us.'”
“I am really honored to be a part of your team and the market is doing extremely well and a lot of great things are happening,” she said.
Dolland thanked the guests for attending and said he looked forward to working with them. “Being in the industry for a long time in the private sector, I understand some of the challenges that some of us face,” he said. He said he was honored to be in a position now to help shaped the industry and move it foward.
Dolland, who is a licensed real estate agent in New York, is associated with realtor Douglas Elliman. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, with a concentration in Finance, from SUNY Stony Brook in the USA. Throughout his career, Dolland has served in various tourism related areas including as sales and marketing manager for the former Flamboyant Hotel and as a director of the former Grenada Board of Tourism.
GTA’s new board went into effect on Aug. 8 and will operate for three years. Dr. George Vincent, a former minister of tourism during a previous National Democratic Congress administration is the vice chairman.
Other board members are Public Relations Officer of the National Democratic Congress, Kijana Orlando Romain; Dr. Charles Modica of the St. George’s University; Allison Caton, Carriacou & Petit Martinique, Jacqueline Alexis; Janelle Hopkin representing the Hotel Industry, President of the Grenada Football Association, Marlon Glean, representing the sports and legal sectors; the permanent secretary in the Ministry of Economic Development, Planning, Tourism and Creative Economy; and representatives from the Grenada Chamber of Industry and Commerce and the Grenada Taxi Association.
According to a news release, “This new Board of Directors represents several sectors of the industry, all of which have a critical input into delivering a progressive, forward-thinking end product. Their diverse and innovative leadership approach will ensure the creation of long-term sustainable strategies to grow the commercial and developmental interests of Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique.”
