The music of Grammy-award artistes Gwen Stefani and Lainey Wilson took center stage at King’s Theatre on Flatbush on April 3 to bring awareness to women’s health. Thanks to “Women Who Rock,” a crusade to champion women in music and women’s health, the show, titled “Audacy Leading Ladies,” revved up the audience of hundreds of women.
The theatre, illuminated with radiant lighting, opened with the passionate voices of Kassi Ashton, a country music singer-songwriter from California, signed to MCA Nashville and Interscope Records, Haven Madison, a 19-year-old, American Idol alum, and Alessa Cara, a Canadian singer and songwriter who was discovered on YouTube at age 13, thrilled the crowd, and set the tone for an evening of the seasoned duo of Wilson and Stefani, who engaged fans with their popular hits.

Wilson, known for her hit, “Bell Bottoms Up,” in reference to the stylish outfit, wore her signature cowboy hat and fringed leather jacket, kept fans rocking while playing the guitar and showcasing her melodious vocal. The delightful lady who had auditioned for American Idol seven times, as she did for The Voice, is today one of the biggest names on the Country music charts.
Her climb to fame is all due to her charming stage presence, which continues to win over fans around the globe.
Stefani, an exciting and captivating performer who judges the hit series The Voice with John Legend, burst onto the stage wearing a battle green pantsuit with an underlay sequin top and immediately energized fans with her new releases and popular hit song “Hollaback Girl.”
The lavish fundraising event, which also honored Women’s History Month, took over the theatre lobby with an expo that distributed pamphlets to educate women about staying healthy. Some read “Let’s Change the Way the World Treats Women,” and “Rock the Future of Women’s Health.”
Women Who Rock founder Melinda Colaizzi said the organization’s mission is to eliminate the gap in women’s health and music by partnering with the fiercest female musicians and the Magee-Women Research Institute, the largest in the world dedicated to women’s health.
