One of the Caribbean’s largest and most dynamic corporate entities, leading Jamaican international distributor GraceKennedy Limited, is sponsoring a five-week professional summer internship under its 2023 Jamaican Birthright Summer Internship Program.
The summer internship will be offered to college students who are Jamaican and students of Jamaican heritage, whether parents or grandparents living in Canada, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
Candidates must be pursuing either an undergraduate degree or a graduate degree program. Students should have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher (B average). Other requirements also include that students must be between the ages of 18 and 25 years and be able to show proof of their Jamaican heritage.
The program provides specific assignments to the students’ academic interests and career goals. Students will be exposed to cultural, social, and educational, immersion through the weekend program and activities geared at highlighting Jamaica’s heritage and historic sites.
Students will be given opportunities to interact with candidates from other cultures and backgrounds and participate in a mentorship program by GraceKennedy management team for the duration of the program. The internship program takes place in Jamaica between June 22 – Aug. 7, 2023. GraceKennedy will provide airfare, housing, transportation, and a stipend for candidates in the program.
All candidates must complete an application online between Sept. 1 – Nov. 30, 2022. The candidates must also present an official transcript, a one-page typed essay and a passport size photograph.
