After being married for three months, Anika Noni Rose has revealed that she married her longtime boyfriend, Jason Dirden, who portrayed Basie Skanks on Greenleaf. Gracing the cover of Brides Magazine, The Dream Girls star told the publication she and Dirden were married in an intimate ceremony on Oct. 16, 2022, at the Paramour Estate in Los Angeles, California. Colman Domingo, who stars in Euphoria, officiated the nuptials. Rose and Dirden first met in 2014 when they were both among the cast of A Raisin In the Sun on Broadway. Rose told Brides, “We both went off and did our things and were disconnected for a while and then swung back.” The couple got engaged in 2021. Eddie Murphy and his fiancee Paige Butcher wore matching black outfits to the Los Angeles premiere of his latest Netflix film You People on Jan. 17 at the Regency Village Theatre in the Westwood area. The couple have been engaged since September 2018 and share six year-old daughter Izzy and four year-old son Max. According to the Daily Mail, while at the screening, the Oscar nominee posed for a group photo with his costars Nia Long, Lauren London, Julia Louis-Dreyfus and David Duchovny, along with director Kenya Barris. Jonah Hill also stars in the movie as Ezra, who tries to impress his fiancee’s (London) parents, played by Murphy and Long, following an awkward exchange when they first met. You People comes out on Netflix Jan. 27.
2023 is starting out with a bang for Academy award-winning actress and comedian Mo’ Nique. The former talk show hostess will portray Goldie on Season 2 of BMF on Starz. The character is described as a “sophisticated Atlanta strip club owner with swagger and street smarts. She forms an Alliance with the Flenory brothers as they migrate from Detroit to Atlanta.” On Feb. 2, Mo’ Nique will star in The Reading, premiering on BET +. The supernatural thriller is written, directed and produced by Courtney Glaude and executive produced by Lee Daniels.
