At a holiday networking event on December 1 at the landmark GNYCC building, The Greater New York Commerce held a surprise press conference to announce plans for a Black History Month celebration on February 29.
The Living Legend Awards event is GNYCC’s way of honoring true legends of Black history, with the double Emmy Award-winning T.V. journalist and former vice president of Fox Channel Five, Bill McCreary at the top of the list.
The GNYCC is honoring McCreary with the Trailblazer Award for opening paths for the multicultural community.
The Chamber is also honoring the 15-year-old African American Women In Cinema, for the trailblazing work of the distinguished filmmaking association.
A special Black History Month 2012 culminating event will also be produced for Internet-TV billed as, “GNYCC Presents – the Bill McCreary Tribute.”
The star-studded event will highlight the ‘Who’s Who’ in T.V., radio and print journalism, city and state politics, dignitaries from the U.N.’s diplomatic corps, the GNYCC and other major chambers of commerce, and other recognizable historical figures.
Upon completion, the program will be accessible on the Internet from early March through Nov. 15, 2012, marking the official 15th anniversary of platinum trailblazer honorees, the “African American Women In Cinema.”
GNYCC’s 15th annual red-carpet celebration will also be produced for the same Inernet television medium up the end of Black History Month 2013.
For this massive undertaking GNYCC is featuring three sponsorship options for interested corporations: Platinum, Gold and Silver. To learn about the benefit differences between the sponsorship options please call the Greater NY Chamber of Commerce headquarters at (212) 686 – 7220 and ask for Mr. Kim E. Fuller or Ms. Tanya L.
