The Flatbush Gardens Tenant Association, Flatbush Gardens Management and New York City Council Member Farah N. Louis on Dec. 21 co-hosted the annual Jingle Bell Rockout holiday celebration at the Flatbush Gardens Community Center, 1404 Brooklyn Ave., Brooklyn.
Community leaders — including members of the Flatbush Gardens Tenant Association and Council Member Louis — attended the event that included free gifts for children, holiday activities, food and music.
“I am proud to have led the first Jingle Bell Rockout for the entire Flatbush Gardens community for the holidays, and to spread holiday cheer and gifts to our whole community this month,” Louis, the daughter of Haitian and Bahamian immigrants, told Caribbean Life on Thursday.
“With hundreds of toys distributed to our neighbors and families, I am honored to have led this amazing initiative, along with the Flatbush Gardens Tenant Association, Elite Learners, and Clipper Equity in this joyous experience,” added the representative for the 45th Council District in Brooklyn.
Marietta Smalls, co-president of Flatbush Gardens Tenant Association, said the tenants were “extremely happy at Jingle Bell Rockout.
“It was something that had not been done before, and it meant a lot that management was there mingling with kids, giving them toys and having a good time,” she said. “We’re looking forward to doing it again next year.”
JJ Bistricter, partner and chief operating officer of Clipper Realty, the owner of Flatbush Gardens, said Jingle Bell Rockout was “exactly what the holiday season is about – family, community and festive fun.
“Doing our part to build a cohesive and lively environment at Flatbush Gardens is one of Clipper’s top priorities, and we are happy to have been a part of this event that brought our neighbors together in abundant holiday spirit,” Bistricter said. “We thank Council Member Farah Louis, The Flatbush Gardens Tenant Association and Flatbush Gardens Management for taking part in Jingle Bell Rockout.”
