West Indies fast bowler Shannon Gabriel has got into the record books by his historic 13-wicket haul in the second Test against Sri Lanka at the Darren Sammy Stadium, St. Lucia, which ended in a draw recently.
He produced the third-best bowling figures by a West Indian bowler and the best by any fast bowler in international cricket in 17 years.
Gabriel, 30, took five wickets for 59 in Sri Lanka first innings, and then bettered it with eight for 62 in the second innings.
Only three times in the last 23 years has a West Indian bowler taken five wickets in each innings.
This historic feat has pushed him 11 places to Number 12 on the ICC Test bowler rankings.
