England defeats West Indies

England Women won the fifth and decisive One-Day International (ODI) by a comfortable five wickets at Sabina Park, Jamaica to clinch the series 3-2.

The British players never looked in trouble after Lauren Winfield and Tammy Beaumont put on 53 for the first wicket and Nat Seiver’s 58 sealed the victory with 11.1 overs to spare.

It was the first time in the series that the side batting second — having loss the toss — had prevailed.

West Indies Women made 155 all out in 47.5 overs with Captain Stafanie Taylor scoring 57. Six batsmen failed to reach double figures.

Victory for England means they are one win away from qualifying for the 2017 World Cup, a result which could be achieved in November when they come up against Sri Lanka for three matches in the ICC Women’s Championship.
