Bangladesh scored 350 runs for 9 declared in their first innings. Bangladesh batsmen scored two half centuries while Devendra Bishoo picked up 3 for 81 for the West Indies.
Debutant Elias Sunny Picked Up 6 For 94
Left arm spinner Elias Sunny mesmerized the West Indies batsmen in their first innings by producing a tidy spell of spin bowling in his first Test match. He bowled 23 overs and picked up 6 for 94. He is the fourth Bangladesh cricketer to pick up a five-wicket haul on debut in a Test match.
West Indies were bowled out for 244 with captain Darren Sammy scoring 58 from 43 balls, Shivnarine Chanderpaul 49, Kraigg Brathwaite 33, Carlton Baugh 30 and Marlon Samuels 24. Carlton Baugh and Darren Sammy shared in a seven-wicket partnership of 60 runs from 42 balls before Baugh fell.

West Indies were given 226 to win from 37 overs, they had a bad start when opener Kraigg Brathwaite fell to left arm spinner Elias Sunny in the first over without scoring. The debutant spinner ended the Test match with 7 wickets for 128 runs.
Lendl Simmons and Kirk Edwards batted briskly with confidence before Simmons fell for 44 while slog sweeping. Simmons got out for about three times in this series playing the same shot. Head Coach Ottis Gibson needs to show him the replay.
Kirk Edwards got out in the first innings going for a sweep when he could have comfortably played straight. Edwards was only playing his second Test match after scoring a century on debut against India in the Caribbean earlier this year.
Edwards was not out 28 and Darren Bravo 24 not out. The two captains decided to stop the game with 15 overs remaining as the West Indies were chasing 226 runs for victory and they had scored 100 for 2 off 22 overs.
West Indies Bowling Needs A Boost
Bangladesh in their first innings scored 350 for 9 declared. This clearly means that the West Indies bowlers failed in their strategy to keep the opposition quiet.
Another pacer to the West Indies squad is the solution and the batting must perform much better. Batsmen must capitalize on their good starts. Opener Simmons continues to slog sweep and as a result loses his wicket callously. West Indies must build their standards much higher in all categories of their game in order to be successful. Chris Gayle must return to the squad.
