Guyanese travelers are breathing a sigh of relief from high airfares this holiday season, with the return of North Carolina charter service Dynamic Airway that will recommence flights from JFK to Cheddi Jagan International Airport starting on Nov. 22.
Claire Bristol, a businesswoman from Queens, and a frequent flyer is excited at the return of the airline. She said it’s the only carrier that will be flying direct round trip. “The reasonable fare, would give me the opportunity to use the carrier throughout its eight-month service approved by the Guyana Civil Aviation Authority,” she added.
Despite the airline being grounded by the DOT because of an inefficient baggage handling company and the lack of a landing gate at JFK. Frequent flyer Gerald Harris, said he is ready to give the carrier another chance, with its renewed promise of reliable service.
Cultural Director of Guyana Cultural Association, Claire Ann Goring of Brooklyn said in these hard economic times she is always looking for the most inexpensive way to go home. She is ready to embrace the low fares and direct flight schedule into Georgetown that the airline provides.
The charter, non-schedule service airline must reapply after its contract expires in June 2015. It will operate its 767 series aircraft Tuesday, Friday and Saturday departing JFK’s Terminal One at 1:00 a.m. The carrier plans additional flights during the Christmas and New Year’s season.
Captain Gerry Gouveia, owner of Roraima Airways, Guyana is happy to partner with Dynamic Airways to fly thousands of Guyanese home, and hopes to break into the Canadian market soon, before adding Caribbean destinations.
He said Dynamic is currently offering tickets from Guyana to New York for a low fare of $500.00 and a start-up fare during the November for $499.00.
Gouveia reassures passengers that the return of Dynamic Airways to Guyana would be more reliable than its inaugural flight earlier this year.
The carrier was forced to shut down its service in July of this year after the U.S. authorities did not give full approval and forced the airline to resubmit its application, and ensure all approvals were granted before taking off.
Bill Gray, chief of operations of Dynamic Airways on the airline’s website stated, “In past months our team has worked diligently on restarting air service to Guyana. With the help of authorities from both countries as well as our partners we were able to prepare the type of service we believe is long overdue in this market.”
The statement added, “Dynamic Airways’ Sales Agent Network, which includes long established travel industry leaders such as Roraima Airways, Bobbie Travel and Sunita Travel, have been greatly enhanced by the addition of TravelSpan, Inc. from Queens, NY.
It added, “TravelSpan’s block seat agreement as well as PSA Agreement allow Dynamic Airways to significantly expand its passenger base and market penetration.”
