West Indies and Trinidad and Tobago all-rounder Dwayne Bravo was given the gold Humming Bird Medal for his outstanding contribution to the game of cricket in the 53rd at Independence Day awards ceremony held at Queen’s Hall, Port of Spain, Trinidad last Sunday night.
Bravo, 31, led Trinidad and Tobago Red Force to the Caribbean Premier League title in 2015, producing outstanding performances with the bat and ball.
He was part of the Mumbai Indians team that won the 2015 Indian Premier League title in 2015.
Bravo, is the cousin of legendary West Indies batsman Brian Lara and the half-brother of West Indies player Darren Bravo.
He has played 40 Tests and 164 ODI for the West Indies. He also played 11 first-class matches and more than 300 T20 matches.
T&T Cricket Board president Azim Bassarath said the honor given to Bravo was well-deserved and will help to motivate other young cricketers to work hard and establish themselves.
In June, Bravo became the first international player to receive an ESPYs nomination in its “Best Play” category.
