Donald Brown currently holds the title of managing director of System Operations at the New York Stock Exchange, a 222-year-old stock trading institution.
The New York Stock Exchange also known as the “Big Board” is one of the largest stock exchanges in the world by market capitalization of its listed companies.
Brown’s team is responsible for the operation and system availability of the electronic trading system used daily to handle 3000 plus instruments that trade at the New York Stock Exchange.
At the exchange, Brown has held positions of senior quality assurance analyst and director of the quality assurance team, where he was responsible for ensuring quality software systems were built and validated to provide the function intended.
Brown was born in St. Catherine, Jamaica, where he lived for the first 13 years of his life. He migrated to the U.S. in 1990, where he attended Sheepshead Bay High School and later went on to complete his Bachelors in Computer Science at Hofstra University.
In 2013, Brown was nominated by the New York Stock Exchange to receive the “Black Achievers in Industry” award, handed out by the Harlem YMCA for his accomplishments.
Brown has been married to his wife for 15 years and has three beautiful children, two daughters and a son.
He has a passion for music and enjoys playing the drums. Brown was raised by parents, who are very familiar with hard work and sacrifice; they preached the importance of family.
At a young age, Brown’s parents made the decision to send Gladstone Brown (father) to the U.S. with the hope of preparing a better future for the family.
